Missy Higgins named Australia's sexiest vegetarian ahead of Sia and John Butler

Higgins' third release is her writer's block album. The album that almost didn't exist.

Creative blockage isn't the sexiest topic for lyricists. Luckily Higgins hasn't lost her way with words, now the musical tap is back on.

Set Me On Fire is a love song to music - "melody you're the one who saves me" she sings as she anatomically describes her fingers "protesting" against playing her beloved piano.

Everyone's Waiting is a darker exploration of the inner turmoil that saw her secretly quit her job three years ago. "How do you make it all stop when everyone's waiting?" she sings over an achingly beautiful tune, that's like a pain-soaked waltz, written with Dan Wilson, co-author of Adele's Someone Like You.

All In My Head completes the blockage trilogy as gorgeous strings soundtrack a happy ending, with fear conquered and mojo located.

Higgins, who releases her new album The Ol' Razzle Dazzle on Friday, landed ahead of fellow veggies Sia, John Butler, Ash Grunwald and Abbie Cornish in an online poll.

"I'm just a real lover of animals and I think when I was a kid that's why I became a vegetarian," Higgins once said.

"I went to boarding school and the meat that was served was disgusting mass-manufactured mystery meat and so it wasn't very hard to get motivated not to eat that."

Higgins' The Ol' Razzle Dazzle Tour is her first national outing since 2007.

She will perform two shows at the Astor Theatre in Mt Lawley this weekend.
